Ed Sheeran’s Record Boss Quits Over His 'Offensive' Run DMC Costume

Atlantic Records U.K. President is stepping down. Ben Cook, who has been at the seat of Atlantic U.K. Records for the past six years, is stepping down in light of criticism over an offensive Run DMC costume he wore for a birthday party seven years ago. “As a consequence of this, I readily agreed to disciplinary actions by my employer last year. Since then, however, allegations surrounding the party have continued to be made against me… [and] against a wonderful company and the label I love. I have therefore come to the conclusion that I should make this statement and step down, with immediate effect,” wrote Cook. Cook was responsible for the success of such acts like Ed Sheeran and Twenty One Pilots. Warner Records has announced that Parlophone co-president Mark Mitchell will step into the leader seat in the interim. Do you think Ben Cook should’ve been disciplined for something he did prior to joining Atlantic Records?
